Sports betting terminology Definition
Aggregate Score The total number which is derived from adding together the Home Team's score and the Visitor Team's score based on the Result of that Sports Action Event.

Bet A sum of money that is risked on the outcome of an event.
Business Day Commences on or after 4:09 a.m. and ends at 4:08 a.m. on the following calendar date.
Cancelled Withdraw, revoke or discontinue a Sports Action Menu, Event or an Event in progress.
Computer System The central computer system of BCLC, or any computer system used by BCLC, to record lottery transactions including Tickets issued by, Tickets displayed on, or Tickets validated by, a computer terminal and includes any computer utilized by BCLC in the operation of a gaming machine.
Computer Terminal A Ticket issuing, Ticket displaying or Ticket validating machine interconnected with a computer system and authorized by BCLC to be used in the operation of a lottery.
Control Number The number printed, displayed or encoded on a Ticket to distinguish a Ticket from all other Tickets issued by BCLC.
Cut-off Time A specific time on a Sports Action Menu or before an Event begins that a Bet must be placed. When playing Sports Action and Betting on a series of games the Bet must be processed before the cut-off time on the Sports Action Menu or an Event.
Doubleheader A doubleheader means the same two (2) teams play each other twice on the same day. In Sports Action, when a doubleheader occurs, the first Game of the doubleheader will always be the Sports Action Event that is listed on the Menu, unless it is the continuation of a suspended Game, in which case the second game is the Sports Action Event included on the Menu.
Event A match, race or game that happens at a given place and time.
Favourite A sports competitor or team thought most likely to win or as determined by BCLC.
Game A Sports Action Event.
Game Conditions The official terms and conditions governing each Sports Action Game.
Go For In Sports Action Oddset Combo, this term refers to how many games a player needs to have correct out of the total number selected. Predictions are combined to allow a player to get all possible combinations of 2, 3, 4 or 5 games from within the "Go For" chosen.
Holder A person having possession of a ticket.
Home or Home Team Sport played on one's own ground or the team or player assigned by BCLC as Home or Home Team.
Home Team advantage The edge that the Home Team is expected to have due to factors such as familiarity with the playing area, favourable demographics and effect of travel on the visiting team.
Lottery Retailer A lottery Ticket seller authorized by BCLC to sell Tickets to the public or to assist BCLC in the operation of a lottery.
Menu The Sports Action Menu entered on BCLC's computer gaming system containing those Sports Action Events available for selections at the time of purchase.
Menu Date Date on which the Menu wagered on ends and is displayed after the Menu number.
Number One or more digits, one or more letters, one or more markings or any combination thereof.
Odds The balance of probability as determined by BCLC in favour of or against some Result.
Over/Under Based on the Result, the Aggregate Score will be over or under BCLC's Pre-set Line for that Sports Action Event. A ½ point is added to BCLC's Pre-set Line to eliminate Tie Results.
Overtime Extension to a Tied Event at the end of Regulation Play that lasts until a winner is determined or maximum overtime periods expire.
Parlay A Bet on two or more Events in which all selected teams or outcomes must win.
PlayerCash PlayerCash are vouchers that are used to purchase games on PlayNow.

Personal Computer An electronic device for storing and processing data used for personal purposes at home, the office or a public area.
Point Spread The minimum score difference by which the Favourite is expected to win, as assigned to either the Home Team or Visitor Team by BCLC. A ½ point is added to BCLC's Point Spread to eliminate Tie Results.
Pre-set Line The Aggregate Score as assigned by BCLC.
Prize A sum of money, merchandise, property, service or any benefit to which a winner is entitled.
Prop A bet on any event, or occurrence that can happen in a sports game.
Regulation Play The normal prescribed duration of an Event.
Result The final outcome of a Sports Action Event as determined by the governing body for that sport and verified by BCLC, except in certain circumstances as outlined in BCLC's Game Conditions for each Sports Action game.
Selection Numbers, sports teams or players chosen by a person participating in a lottery on a selection slip authorized by BCLC or issued by BCLC's computer system entitling or enabling a person to participate in a lottery.
Shootout If a game remains tied after an overtime period, teams may engage in a Shootout. Each team will take alternating penalty shots against the opposing goaltender. If the game is still tied after a specified number of shots per team, 'sudden-death' shots will be taken to reach a decision.
Sports Action Winner The Holder of a Sports Action winning Ticket or a Person entitled to a prize according to the Game Conditions established by BCLC.
Ticket A ticket, certificate, or other instrument defined as a lottery ticket under the Act, issued under a lottery and authorized for sale by BCLC.
Tie The definitions of Tie varies from sport to sport.
Underdog A competitor thought to have less chance of winning an Event or as designated by BCLC.
Visitor or Visitor Team The team or player playing in a rival team's home town or the team or player assigned by BCLC as the Visitor or Visitor Team.
Wager See "Bet."
Wager Limit The greatest or smallest amount permissible.
Winning Ticket A Valid Ticket that bears one or more numbers or one or more selections entitling its Holder to a prize according to the Game Conditions established by BCLC.
