Sleepless in...Dawson Creek

September 24, 2009, Richmond B.C. – A Dawson Creek couple are catching up on their zzz's after winning the top prize on the Extra lottery game.

65-year-old Eric Henthorne and wife Wendy, 62, managed to match 4/4 numbers on the September 18, 2009 Extra draw to win the top prize of $500,000.

"When I brought the ticket home I immediately checked the numbers," recalls Eric. "I told Wendy, 'Hey, we've got all four numbers on the Extra!'"

"I jumped out of my chair," said Wendy. "I couldn't believe it. We checked and re-checked the numbers so many times we didn't get much sleep that night. It's probably a good thing that we flew to BCLC headquarters in Kamloops to claim our prize, because we were way too excited to drive."

The couple, who purchased their lucky ticket at Dawson Co-Op on 8th Street in Dawson Creek, plans to share their winnings with their three children and four grandchildren, pay off their mortgage and buy a new car.
