Pair to share $4.1 million Lotto 6/49 jackpot

Pair to share $4.1 million Lotto 6/49 jackpot September 11, 2009, Richmond B.C. – It's a friendship that has paid huge dividends!

Friends for four years, 55-year-old Silas Man-Kin Cheung of Burnaby and 43-year-old Yi Hang of Richmond began playing the lottery together last year...and they've hit it big!

The pair's Double Play Combo ticket was the only one to match 6/6 numbers on the September 5 6/49 draw, earning them $4.1 million.

"We decided to play together because we thought two people may bring more luck," said the single Hang, who plans to invest some of her winnings in the stock market.

Cheung, who confirmed his winning numbers on BCLC.com, is married, but has not yet shared the good news with his wife.

"I don't know how to tell her," he said. "I checked the ticket on the internet, and when I realized I had won – and how much I had won – I just put it under my mattress."

Cheung, who owns a Richmond freight transport company, says he will continue to work and continue to play the lottery.

The pair's winning $22 Double Play Combo ticket, which includes the 6/49, BC49, and the Extra, was purchased at Brentwood Mall on Lougheed Highway in Burnaby.

Lotto 6/49 is the nationwide lottery game drawn on Wednesdays and Saturdays after 6 p.m. (PST). Players can purchase tickets at any lottery retailer or at PlayNow.com.
