Jogger gets 'run for his money'
Richmond, B.C., August 5, 2009 – A Vancouver man, not realizing that he won the top prize of $500,000 on a recent Extra draw, literally ran away from his winnings.
Avid jogger Nicolas Postoyalko, a 63-year-old Employment and Assistance worker for the Province of B.C., decided to delay checking his lottery tickets until after he went out for a run, not knowing he held a winning $500,000 ticket.
Needless to say, Postoyalko was 'Extra' happy when he returned to check his tickets, realizing he had won the game's top prize.
"I am still in a state of shock," said Postoyalko. "I didn't sleep last night. I'm in disbelief!"
With the winner's cheque now in his pocket Postoyalko plans to do some more running around, but this time to shop for a new car and furniture.
Postoyalko purchased his winning ticket at Mac's Convenience Store on East Hastings in Burnaby.
