Red and white make 'green' for Extra winner
Richmond, February 16, 2009 – The Red Rooster Food Store in White Rock was the scene of some 'Extra' big celebrating last week.
That's because local resident, Dorothy Goldstein, decided to stop in to check the Quick Dip lottery ticket she had purchased for the February 11, 2009 Extra draw.
Hearing the winning jingle, Dorothy glanced at the video screen and thought she had won $5,000. In fact, she had won the $500,000 jackpot!
"The reason I buy lottery tickets is to win," she the 57-year-old lab technologist. "But, I certainly wasn't expecting to win this big!"
Friday the 13th, a scary day for most people, was anything but for Dorothy, who gave herself a well deserved day off work and paid a visit to the BCLC office to collect her winning cheque.
She plans to use her prize money for "home renovations and investments".
This lucky ticket was purchased at Pricesmart Foods #2235 Ltc on 152nd Street in Surrey.
