Royal City resident 'Extra' lucky
Richmond, August 20, 2008 – A 37-year-old New Westminster man is now a half-million dollars richer after collecting his winnings from BCLC's Richmond office this week.
Joe Wallace purchased a Quick Pick ticket, said "Yes" to the Extra, and won the $500,000 top prize on the August 15, 2008 draw.
The electrical wholesale salesman bought his winning ticket at the MeadowMart on 56th Avenue in Langley, nearby to where he works.
"I've been buying my lottery tickets at the same store for over ten years now," said Wallace.
"A few days later, I checked my ticket on my lunch break and found out I had won. When I got back to work, I let my co-workers know that I'd be taking the rest of the day off. At first they didn't believe I had matched all four numbers!"
The avid camper says he plans to buy new trailer to take on his next vacation.
